A sad time for so many

It seems that while people are celebrating Christmas and ringing in the New Year, others are mourning the loss of a loved one.
In a post I wrote in late November, I talked about my friend's mother-in-law and also about a man who had been blogging his way through his treatment.  Sadly both of these people have lost their struggle to live.
And so it is with a heavy heart that I raise a glass in their honour.

A light has gone out

Listening to the radio this morning on the way to work, I was saddened by the news about Steve Jobs.
It is a huge loss to Apple and to the vast majority of the people that I know.
His creative genius was huge.
He will be missed.

me

The loss of a relationship.
The space created when a person isn’t there.
The missing touch.
Conversations that won’t happen.
Breathing can happen with difficulty.
Acceptance of the reality.
No more potential or possibilities.
Tears prickle the eyes at unwanted moments.
Being of no mind would be helpful right now.

Reality

Reality is a hard thing to accept.
A young friend (only 19), has just had a miscarriage.
She is feeling the weight of her loss, which I think is especially heavy as she had just told people about this pregnancy.
Accepting a loss is a difficult thing to do.
Denial for a while is much easier, more palpable.
Wanting something that simply isn't possible, isn't a very accurate reality, is a painful thing to come to terms with.
But sadly, it is the reality of the situation.
